Course Description:
Six-Hour Live Webinar for Florida Professional Surveyors and Mappers
This 6-hour continuing education course, Live Virtual Classroom (Instructor lead, interactive, ZOOM platform) examines the fundamental principles used by Florida Professional Surveyors and Mappers in performing boundary surveys. The course emphasizes the surveyor’s role in determining the purpose of the survey, identifying the controlling record documents, recognizing the difference between boundary corners and monuments, and evaluating the evidence necessary to support a boundary location opinion.
Participants will review boundary creation by written conveyance, equitable doctrines, and statutory law; the use of rules of construction and extrinsic evidence; the distinction between original surveys, resurveys, and retracement surveys; and the application of Florida case law and Public Land Survey System principles to boundary evidence. The course also addresses practical communication of findings through survey maps, reports, notes, and recommendations.
